IF YOU KNEW …

You think it’s easy, easy to forget

Say this is now and that was then

It may be hard for you to see

Just take a look at history

If you knew people like I do you’d try to see their point of view

It may not be that strange for you to walk the mile without the shoe

You’d try to understand and shake a hand

If you knew people like I do

The eye to eye philosophy is faded to obscurity

The heart of man has gone astray I ask for help you just walk away

If you knew evil like I do it would be so cool to you

You’d know that every single day could be the last you get to stay

You’d love your mother, brother, sister other

If you knew evil like I do

The very words she said to me will echo through eternity

“Son you should never ever be afraid

Just make your peace and go your way.

If you knew Jesus like I do there’d be no harm to come to you

And though at times you may get blue,

They wouldn’t scare you like they do

You’d walk the walk and talk the truth

If you knew Jesus like I do”

And when it’s over, said and done

That I could be the righteous one

And when it ends, that I could say

I took the ride, now my debt is paid

If you knew life the way I do you’d take the time to think it through

You’d know that tomorrow it could change

And you’d be right here in my place

I think you’d try your best to make it right tonight

If you knew life the way I do

I know you’d try your best to make it right tonight

If you knew life the way I do.
